Getting to Volterra

Pisa and Florence airports are both a pretty drive away.

Arriving

Fly into Pisa or Florence. Both are roughly 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes by car.

Do we need a car?

We recommend one for exploring. On Saturday, our shuttles run from Volterra.

Stay on the estate

Rooms, suites, maisonettes and cottages at Borgo Pignano are held for us until 22 February.

Stay nearby

Volterra has lovely small hotels and agriturismi within 20 minutes.

Before you pack

Meadows, sunshine and a few practical things.

Children

Welcome all weekend. There will be a supervised meadow picnic during dinner.

Sunshine

Late May can be warm. Hats, sunscreen and water will be in the meadow.

An unplugged ceremony

Put the phones away for twenty minutes; the photographer has you covered.

Access

The courtyard is level; the meadow is grass. Tell us what would help.

What to wear

Colourful garden party

Florals, brights and pastels are all welcome. Leave the black at home.

Your presence is the gift

If you would like to give something, we have a small fund for a very Italian road trip.

For our honeymoon we're renting an old Fiat and driving south: Umbria, the Amalfi coast and finally the islands off Sicily, stopping wherever the lunch looks good. Contributions to fuel, ferries and very long lunches are very welcome.

No gift needed. Just bring your dancing shoes.

Everything guests often ask before a Tuscan wedding.

When should we arrive?

Friday afternoon is ideal, in time for the welcome aperitivo.

Is the ceremony legal in Italy?

We marry at the town hall at home the week before; this is our celebration with you.

What if it rains?

The ceremony moves into the estate's old chapel and dinner under the courtyard loggia.

Is there a pool?

Yes, and it's yours on Sunday.

Are pets welcome?

Sadly not this time.
