Getting to Zermatt

Zermatt is car-free. Here is the easiest way up.

Arriving

Fly into Zurich or Geneva. Swiss trains reach Zermatt via Visp in roughly 3 to 4 hours.

Car-free Zermatt

Drivers park at the Matterhorn Terminal in Täsch and take the shuttle train to Zermatt.

Up to Riffelalp

The Gornergrat railway runs from Zermatt; the resort's porters meet you at Riffelalp station and take your luggage.

2,222 metres is gentle, but drink water and take the stairs slowly on Friday.

Mountain weather

July can bring sun, a storm and 10 °C evenings on the same day. Pack a warm layer.

Children

Welcome all weekend. Ask us about evening childcare at the resort.

The chapel is small and quiet. Phones away until the aperitif.

If you would like to give something, we are saving for a summer in the Norwegian fjords.

For our honeymoon we're heading north to the Norwegian fjords: a cabin on the water, a ferry up the coast and as many hikes as our legs allow. A contribution to a boat trip, a night in a cabin or a dinner in Bergen would be wonderful.

Please don't feel obliged. Coming all the way up the mountain is the gift.

Gornergrat railway from Zermatt to Riffelalp station, then the tram to the hotel.

Can we stay at the resort?

Yes. We hold a room block until 10 April 2027.

What if the weather turns?

The chapel is indoors; the aperitif moves into the lounge by the fire.

What time is the last train down?

Our private train leaves Riffelalp at 00:45.
